Stability

For web hosting CentOS can be inefficient at handling websites with high resource usage or for running many websites is a shared hosting environment. CloudLinux creates separate “Lightweight Virtualized Environment” (LVE) for each users, which partitions, allocates, and limits server resources. This prevents a single user account from consuming all resources which can make the server become unresponsive taking websites offline including those of other customers

Performance

CentOS has no usage tracking features and hence it is difficult to see if customers are starting to hit their resource limits. By providing user resource limit reporting in CloudLinux we can troubleshoot easily and make recommendations on upgrades when they are appropriate vs. upgrading without the need, thereby saving our customers unnecessary costs. CloudLinux also provides lsapi PHP handler module which is lightweight and fastest when compared to other handlers.

Security

On a CentOS system an attacker can enter the server via a weak website, modify server files potentially causing system-wide damage. CloudLinux use CageFS to completely separate each user’s file system. This prevents a user from accessing another user’s files or processes. This secures one customer’s data from another on shared servers and prevents websites from being hacked due to one account being compromised.
